The McMaster Youth Movmment

October 18, 2019

About the Movement:

Our mission is to ignite a generation to be active, educated, and connected, to the power of community.

Through a variety of Indigenous sport based initiatives the MYM exists to ensure long-term Aboriginal athlete development and growth on the McMaster campus, and beyond.

Active

The Movement starts by getting our youth active through the power of sport.

Sport is an irresistible force that brings people together, empowers individuals, and changes lives.

Sport is critical to the health and happiness of a community, and inspiring active lifestyles is the core of what we do.

Educated

We also believe in the importance of education. Education opens doors and echoes across generations. The Movement may start with active lifestyles, but it extends into the classroom. Our hope is that our initiatives inspire the participants to value their education while providing exposure to post secondary opportunities.

Connected

The success of an individual is often tied to the success of their community. The McMaster Youth Movement strives to unite Indigenous youth to promote positive community identity, culture and continued support for the North American Indigenous Games. #TRCSportsandReconciliation
